Adventure #56 Lay in a Hammock (5 points)

Here are Cole and I in the hammock at my parents house.

Adventure #104 See a Sea Lion (or Seal) (5 points)

We were lucky enough to spot a couple harbor seals and a sea otter on our trip to Moss Landing. It was hard to get ourselves, the flag and the seal in the picture - - - but we tried our best!
The seal is playing in the surf above my left shoulder. Its a little hard to see . . .

Zoomed in image of the seal

Another view of the seal

Adventure #45 Put your toes in the Pacific Ocean (7 points)

On our trip to Moss Landing I decided to put my feet in the water, even though it was pretty cool outside. I expected the wave to come about up to my ankles, but during the photo a larger wave came in and got me all the way up to my knees!
Nice gentle wave covering my toes.
Not so gentle wave coming in and soaking me to my knees - - notice the surprised look on my face :)

Adventure #3 Frolic on the Beach (5 points) and Adventure #106 Dog Walking (5 points)

Over Labor Day weekend we took Cole on his first trip to the beach! We spent the afternoon at Moss Landing. The below picture shows us hanging out on the beach and walking with our Australian Shepherd, Margie.

Adventure #59 Wedding Days (5 points)

The adventure description states: "Tell us the perfect outdoor location in California to get married and why"

There are many beautiful spots in California to get married, from our variety of historical places of interest to our many beautiful beaches. However we choose, with much bias the historic Ryde Hotel in Walnut Grove, CA. Not only do we choose it for this adventure, but we chose it for our wedding in May of 2009. The hotel is an old speakeasy located in the Delta Islands, about 30 minutes south of Elk Grove, CA. The outdoor wedding location has big beautiful trees, a lush green lawn and a white gazebo that is covered in white climbing roses. Even on a slightly overcast day like ours, the Ryde truly delivered a beautiful backdrop for our "big day".

Adventure #92 Oyster Eater (5 points)

To celebrate my birthday, we went to my favorite seafood restaurant (in Fresno . . . .I know that isn't saying much). It was Greg and I's first time ever trying BBQ'd oysters. They were pretty good, of course you could hardly taste the oyster since they were covered in chopped garlic. Delicious!!

If you are ever in Fresno we suggest trying out Pismo's Coastal Grill!

Adventure #6 Tell a Fish Story (7 points)

In 2007 I took my husband (then boyfriend) on a fishing charter out of Santa Cruz harbor, using the Monterey Bay Charter company and the Mega-Bite boat. We were joined by my father-in-law, his friend and my girlfriend and her husband (then boyfriend). It was my first time ever fishing in the ocean and we were all having a great time catching our limit of sand dabs and watching the jelly fish right under the surface of the water. A couple of hours into our expedition I felt a pull on my line, since there was a lot of tension I figured I had gotten my line snagged on kelp or something. In an attempt to unhook my line I kept reeling it in - - - and to my surprise, my line wasn't snagged, it was in the mouth of a 21 pound halibut!!! I brought in the "catch of the day" (probably the catch of my life!). It was an experience I will never forget!

We are watching the geese and ducks at the lake. This should almost count as adventure #9 "Catch a Bird of Prey" because these Geese are vicious!

Erin hugging a tree at Woodward Park . . . while Cole tries to eat our team flag :)

Adventure #8 Go for a hike (5 points)

This picture was taken at the beginning of the trail head at Woodward Park.

Our Team Flag

Our official team name is "We Three G's". The name comes from the fact that there are three of us in our family and our last name starts with "G". We decided to make our own flag and created one that shows some of our favorite things California has to offer: sun, mountains, forest and ocean.
