Ok, I only have one fish story, so its going to have to repeat from last year. It is a good fish story and fishermen always love to recount their biggest catch, right?!? :)
Greg and I went ocean fishing out of Santa Cruz harbor, on a charter (the Mega-Bite) boat. We spent the day catching our limit of small fish and were having a great time. Several times I accidentally pulled up a fish to fast - - not good for the fish! We were even visited by a seal who was clearly trying to escape from something in the water and really wanted in our boat! (Never did see what the seal was running from . . . ). Toward the end of the day I started to reel in a fish, since there was so much pull on my line I figured the line was snagged on kelp. The charter guide came down to help me get my line free, when he did we noticed that I actually had a halibut on my line!
That day I reeled in a 21 pound California Halibut! It earned me "catch of the day" at the harbor and bragging right to tell this story over and over again!!
